ElderCounsel in Our Community

Each year, the virtual team of ElderCounsel comes together to meet face-to-face for a staff retreat. These retreats give us intentional time to connect and focus on building our teams and goals together. During our retreat we also make a point to carve out time to participate in a volunteer project. In 2014, we spent a day at Opportunity Village in Las Vegas and had the honor of working on some small projects with some of their members.  Opportunity Village is a not-for-profit organization, almost entirely self-funded that serves people in the Southern Nevada community with intellectual disabilities, to enhance their lives and the lives of the families who love them through vocational training, community employment, day services, arts and social recreation.

Watch the video below to learn more about Opportunity Village and get a glimpse into our time there.

Next month, our team will head to New Orleans and will be working with the St. Bernard Project to help disaster-impacted homeowners. We look forward to sharing this experience with you when we return.
